YouTube Chapter Formatter
YouTube quietly drops chapters that break its rules: the first one must be 0:00, times must rise, and each chapter needs at least 10 seconds. Paste your rough list of timestamps and this free formatter cleans it up, adds the Intro line if it is missing, and tells you exactly what YouTube would reject.

How to use it
Paste your timestamp lines in any mix of formats, with or without dashes or bullets.
Check the list. Any rule YouTube would reject is named next to the chapter it affects.
Copy the YouTube block into your description, or export show notes and podcast chapter JSON.

What rules does YouTube apply to chapters?
The first chapter must start at 0:00, chapters must be in ascending order, each one needs at least 10 seconds before the next, and you need at least three chapters for them to show.
When does YouTube use hours in timestamps?
Only when a chapter starts at one hour or later. This formatter then writes every timestamp as h:mm:ss so the list stays consistent.
Can I use this for podcasts?
Yes. Export show-notes text with h:mm:ss timestamps for your episode description, or the Podcasting 2.0 chapters JSON for hosts and apps that read it.
