Timecode & Frame Calculator
Editors and captioners keep switching between timecode, frame counts and seconds, and drop-frame 29.97 makes the maths easy to get wrong. This free calculator converts between HH:MM:SS:FF, frame numbers, seconds and HH:MM:SS.mmm at 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 (drop-frame or not), 30, 50, 59.94 and 60 fps. It also adds or subtracts timecodes and moves a frame count from one rate to another. Everything runs in your browser.

What is drop-frame timecode?
Drop-frame (DF) skips frame labels 00 and 01 at the start of each minute, except every tenth minute, so 29.97 fps timecode matches the real clock. It is written with a semicolon before the frames, as in 00:10:00;00. Frame 17982 at 29.97 DF is 00:10:00;00.
Why does 23.976 timecode drift from the clock?
Non-drop timecode counts frame labels at the nominal rate (24 for 23.976), so over an hour it falls slightly behind real time. Use the seconds or clock field for real duration, and the timecode field for edit positions.
Does this change my video?
No. It only calculates. To cut, caption and time a full video from a script, Market4Me does the editing for you on a free account.
