Subtitle Converter & Retimer

Subtitle files break when they move between platforms. This free converter reads SRT, WebVTT and simple ASS subtitles, saves them as SRT, VTT, plain text or JSON, and retimes them by a fixed offset or a frame-rate fix. Your file never leaves your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Does my subtitle file get uploaded?

No. The file is read and converted in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

What is the difference between SRT and VTT?

Both store cues with start and end times. SRT uses comma millisecond separators and WebVTT uses dots and a WEBVTT header. Most platforms accept either.

How do I fix subtitles that are out of sync?

Enter a positive or negative millisecond offset to shift every line. If the drift grows over time, use the 23.976 to 25 fps option to rescale the timing.
