Social Media Character Limit Checker

Every platform counts characters differently, and a caption that fits on Instagram can be cut off on X or rejected by a YouTube title. Paste your text once and this free checker counts it for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest and more, shows what is left, and marks where each feed truncates the text before the reader taps more.

How to use it

1

Choose the field you are writing, such as a post, a title or a bio.

2

Paste your text. Emoji count as one character and URLs count the way X counts them.

3

Read the table. Fix anything over the limit, and trim anything that the feed cuts off before the key words.

Frequently asked questions

Why does X count emoji and links differently?

X weights each emoji as 2 characters and each link as 23, whatever its length. The checker follows that rule for X rows only, and counts everything else as typed.

Are the limits up to date?

The limits are approximate and were checked in 2026. Platforms change them without notice, so confirm a limit in the app before a large launch.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. The count runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.
